THE DESIGN PROCESS
A holistic approach defines our design process to ensure the end result is everything you’ve dreamed of and more – a considered and bespoke outcome that enhances both your space and your way of living.
Below are the stages we’ll take together from concept designs right through to a comprehensive handover to your selected builder.
01/ LET'S CHAT
Once we receive your enquiry, a discovery call is scheduled at a suitable time, to discuss meeting at your home for an initial consultation. This chat is also a great opportunity to get to know more about your project and ensure that our services are the perfect fit for you.
02/ INITIAL CONSULTATION
We’ll meet you at your home to get a clear understanding of your space and discuss your vision for the project. We’ll also chat about my design approach and review your inspiration references.
Duration: Up to 2 hours
Fee: $300 (plus travel costs if applicable)
03/ PROJECT KICK OFF
After the initial consultation, you’ll be sent a fee proposal for your review, and we will return to your home to conduct a site-measure of the interiors. This will prepare us for the upcoming concept development phase. Once the fee proposal/contract is approved, the design project can begin.
04/ CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
You will be provided with up to three 2D concept plan and elevation drawings for your consideration. Based on a detailed brief, you’ll also receive creative mood boards that allow you to envision the design direction we propose for each space. This concept design package will be delivered in person to ensure we can discuss any questions or feedback you may have.
05/ CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION
Your favourite concept will be transformed into detailed construction documentation for you to present to your builder for accurate pricing. In conjunction with the construction drawings, you will receive an RCP (lighting) and electrical plan, a Fittings/Finishes/Equipment schedule (FF+E) and a sample materials board, which allows you to interact with the proposed finishes you will soon have in your home.
06/ PROJECT CONSULTANCY
An optional inclusion in the design process, however an important one. The project doesn't conclude when you have your construction drawing package, it's only getting started. We'll work closely with your builder and sub-contractors to ensure your vision comes to fruition.
WHY ENGAGE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER?
+ Saves time. A designer is working behind the scenes to deliver concepts and schemes while you get on with living life. Sure, you will still have to visit showrooms and make lots of decisions, but the vast array of design choices on the market will be refined to reflect what you really want in your home.
+ Saves money. Throughout the design process, you will have many opportunities to see the proposed outcome; you will only approve what you love. No post-renovation regrets here. Also, if you are transparent with your budget, a designer can help you stay on track.
+ Spacial planning. Designers have wizz-bang software and industry knowledge to advise if you really CAN fit that gorgeous 12-seater dining table in your home, or if you should probably scale it back.
+ Access to trade discounts. Many suppliers offer trade programs. These discounts are passed onto clients in full.
+ Clarity for your builder. Builders love working off detailed designs and schedules; it means they don't have to guess on site or be distracted with finishes and material selections. They can simply do what they do best; construct.
